SPRAY components

The following components are available in the present version:

Light sources

  • Point light source (isotropic emission)
  • Volume light source (isotropic emission)
  • Rectangular light source (user-defined emission cone)
  • Circular light source (user-defined emission cone)
  • Composed light sources (several elements emit light)

Detectors

  • Rectangular detector
  • screen
  • linear detector array
  • spherical detector array

Interfaces

Interfaces separate regions in space, e.g. define the transition from one material to another and/or from a non-scattering region to a volume with light scattering. Interfaces are defined as layer stacks or boundaries with user-defined reflectance and transmittance properties (regular or diffuse).

Geometric objects

Geometric objects may be covered by a user-defined interface or are ideal mirrors or absorvers. These shapes are available at present:

  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Sphere
  • Sphere segment
  • Cylinder
  • Open cylinder
  • Cone
  • Ellipsoid segment
  • Paraboloid segment
  • Spherical collecting lens
  • Spherical disperging lens
  • Prism
  • User-defined surface profile
  • Objects composed of several subobjects

________________________________________________

SPRAY uses the same optical constant models and data as our SCOUT spectrum simulation software, including a large database. Also the definition of layer stacks used in interfaces is exactly the same. Between geometric objects light rays may move in absorbing, light scattering or flurorescent media.

Light scattering and absorption properties of spheres with multiple coatings are computed by an integrated Mie-program.
