CODE

CODE is a thin film analysis and design software running under Windows 7/8/10. It is based on our SCOUT thin film analysis software – it contains all SCOUT features. In addition, CODE includes additional features important for optical thin film design.

Thin film design means to optimize a coating, e.g. to achieve certain reflectance or transmittance values at a given wavelength, or a certain shape in a wavelength range. In many cases the optimization target is to obtain certain technical performance data. An optical filter, for example, should get a wanted color. Or a solar absorber coating should help to absorb as much sunlight as possible. CODE computes color values or averaged absorption values based on the current optical model, and tries to minimize the difference to the target values by a parameter fit.

CODE is heavily used for architectural and car glass optimization. CODE can be used for material research, e.g. to study how optical constants depend on the deposition settings of coating machinery. Using the knowledge obtained this way the best coating solution is determined in the design phase. Finally, CODE can be used to compare the current coating properties in a running production in real time, and suggest changes of the deposition conditions to find to the ideal product and stay there. A fully automated solution for production control of this kind is our BREIN software.
