Object version

I get the message ‘Error: Object version in file younger than in program version!’. What does this mean?

You are trying to open a configuration which has been generated with a higher version of the software. The program refuses to load the file because this will contain objects which are not supported by your version.

There are 2 solutions: Update your program to the latest version so that you are able to read the file, or ask the producer of the file to generate a version for you which uses the object generation that you have in your software. You can find out about your program version in the ‘About box’ (menu item ?/about).

Batch fit of Optoplex NGQ and Von Ardenne exsitu files

The Zeiss Optoplex NGQ software can create *.csv files which contain all measured spectra of an exsitu traverse scan. Von Ardenne exsitu files have a similar content.

You can now easily fit the spectra of all probehead positions using the batch control window. Once you have a good fit routine, you can execute the batch control menu command “Prepare/New batch fit”, followed by the command “Prepare/New results page for Optoplex NGQ file” or “Prepare/New results page for Von Ardenne exsitu file”. Then press “Go”.

CODE will fit all spectra and write the fit results to the page “Results”. Using view objects of type “Batch control graph (rows)” you can visualize obtained  thickness profiles, for example.

Bug fix saving configurations

We detected and solved an issue saving fit parameters in configurations which contain several interband transitions. When you load such a configuration some fit parameters may point to the wrong susceptibility. If you recompute the optical model the result is a kind of garbage, in most cases.

If you are experiencing this problem you should load the configuration and delete all fit parameters before you update the optical model. It is then safe to generate new fit parameters and save the configuration using program versions generated after June 2, 2015.

New ellipsometry import routine

Ellipsometry objects can now import data saved in *.pae files by SOPRA ellipsometers.

Although the angle of incidence is stored in such files the value of the angle of incidence of the ellipsometry object (which is used for the computation of simulated data) is not changed. This way you can import data measured at 70°, for example, and still do the computations for 69.9° – a small difference is sometimes  necessary to correct for experimental uncertainties.

Updated import routine

The import routine for text files (xy-format) has been improved to allow to read data from files with several data columns. If you use this routine in batch operations or through OLE automation, you can now specify the column to read from as input option. Option = 1 means to read from the first column, option = 3 reads from the 3rd.

Old filename menu items

Object generation 3.96

The management of the menu items that show the last accessed files has been improved. Since the list of files is now stored in a different way the menu items are all empty when you change to the new version. During your work the items will fill up again.
